Tuesday 8th October

Cloudy/Frequent showers. 11/12/10c. SW3 -5

F&C CANAL (Ruchill St > Clydebank)
Quite a long walk (13.5 miles in total, there and back). The main highlight was finding my first ever "Clydeside" Smooth Newt. There was 2 of them under a log and luckily one was nestled in right next to a Palmate Newt, which was ideal for comparison.
Other notable species were ;
Little Grebe 1
Mute Swan 18 (inc Orange 3CVY. This bird was rung as 2 year old at Erskine Bridge on 28th January 2006)
Tufted Duck 1
Goosander 2
Common Buzzard 1
kingfisher 1
Grey Wagtail 1
Redwing (several small flocks)
Raven 1
Palmate Newt 2

    1. Sorry, forgot to label the Fungi...the first one is Hare's-foot Inkcap and the other is Sulphur Tuft.
      Regards the Newts, the larger of the 2 is Smooth.
